In the Spotlight

Past, Present & Future

The American Beverage Association is the trade association representing the non-alcoholic beverage industry. Founded in 1919 as the American Bottlers of Carbonated Beverages, ABA today represents hundreds of beverage producers, distributors, franchise companies and supporting businesses that employ more than 217,000 people. With U.S. sales exceeding $111 billion per year, ABA members offer consumers myriad brands, flavors and packaging choices and a full range of drink options including soft drinks, diet soft drinks, ready-to-drink teas, bottled waters, water beverages, 100 percent juice, juice drinks, sports drinks and energy drinks.

ABA provides a neutral forum in which members convene to discuss common issues while maintaining their tradition of spirited competition in the American marketplace. The Association also serves as liaison between the industry, government and the public, and provides a unified voice in legislative and regulatory matters.

As the national voice for the non-alcoholic refreshment beverage industry, ABA offers information on legislation, science, technology, recycling, water reuse and the law. The staff of legislative, scientific, technical, legal, solid waste and communications experts effectively represents members’ interests.
